    Description

Travel across Morocco with this unique 2 weeks tour from Fez. A wonderful tour which includes archaeological sites, atmospheric cities, mud villages, and the Sahara desert.

Firstly, we will discover Fez with its unique vibe, before we visit the Imperial Meknes. Then, we head south to the desert dunes where you will have an adventurous tour of the dunes on a 4×4 car and visit to a nomad family that lives in the inhospitable environment of the desert. During this 2 weeks tour from Fez, you will also be able to visit one of the top UNESCO sites in Africa, the village of Ait Ben Haddou. After that, we continue to the Imperial Marrakech, the most touristic city in Morocco. A day trip to the coastal Essaouira is also included in the program. In addition, we will visit Casablanca, Rabat, and Chefchaouen. Finally, this tour ends with your transfer to the airport of Fez.

Itinerary

Day 1 Arrive in Fez

This 2 weeks tour from Fez starts today, as our driver will pick you up from the airport up to your arrival time. Transfer to the hotel/riad and check-in. You’ll have the rest of the day to relax while exploring the medina and the souks. 

Day 2Fez guided tour

After breakfast, you will meet with a local tour guide to explore Fez, the most ancient and holy of the Imperial cities. Your cultural and historic tour will take you through the 2000-year-old living medina. A labyrinth of narrow streets, alive with markets and souks, craftsmen, donkeys, and mules transporting their loads. Here you will visit the Attarine and Bou Anania Medersas, the Nejjarine fountain, the Moulay Idriss Mausoleum, the Karaouine Mosque, and the Chouara tannery. Later on, we will visit a tile cooperative where you will discover the world of the Moroccan Pottery before we finish our tour with a visit to the Merenid Tombs, where you will admire the panoramic view of the whole Medina of Fez.

Day 3Day trip to Meknes & Volubilis

Today, you will have a day trip to nearby Meknes. Firstly, we will visit Volubilis, a UNESCO World Heritage site and an ancient Roman settlement. Here, you can admire the alleyways, gates, monuments, and mosaic floors. Dating from the 2nd and 3rd centuries, the Roman ruins here are considered the best-preserved in Morocco. Our next stop will be in Meknes, a World Heritage Unesco Site and one of the 4 Moroccan Imperial cities. Meknes is the site of the first Arab dynasty created by Moulay Ismail, and here you can visit the Medersa Bou Inania, the Bab Mansour, the Gateway to Moulay Ismail Palace, and the Royal Stables. Free time for lunch and in the afternoon will drive back to Fez.

Day 4Fez - Ifrane - Azrou - Midelt - Ziz Valley - Merzouga

Pick up from your hotel in Fez very early in the morning and depart for the south of Morocco. You will have a stop in Ifrane, known as the Switzerland of Morocco to enjoy its beauty and to have some memorable photos. After that, you will head toward Azrou to see the monkeys in the cedar forest. Continuing to Midelt for a lunch meal in a restaurant. In the afternoon, we will cross the pass of Tizi N Talghamt to reach Errachidia while admiring the views of Ziz gorges.

Later you will have a stop for a panoramic view of Ziz valley. The drive continues to Erg Chebbi Dunes passing by Aoufous and Erfoud. After that, you will continue to the captivating dunes of Erg Chebbi. These dunes are called also Merzouga Dunes. Arrive at the hotel and check-in. Dinner and overnight in the hotel.

Day 5Merzouga - Tour of the dunes - Nomad family - Khamlia - Sahara Desert

This morning after breakfast in the hotel, you will have a tour of the dunes on 4×4 allowing you to visit the black volcanic rocks of fossils, a nomad family living in a tent, and then to have a stop at Khamlia village and entertain with their spiritual music of Gnawa. Afterward, we will visit the lake Dayte Sarji which forms in springtime and attract pink flamingos and wildlife.

Then you will have a break for lunch in Merzouga or Hassi Labied. After lunch, you will see the canal irrigation system and you will have a walk on the oasis located at the foot of the dunes. In the afternoon get ready for a camel trek for an hour to enjoy the sunset. While on the back of your dromedary, you will continue to the camp for an overnight in a traditional nomad tent. Dinner and spend the night in a bivouac in the middle of the dunes.

Day 6Sahara Desert - Erfoud - Tinejdad - Todra Gorges - Dades Valley

Wake up early in the morning to enjoy the sunrise on the top of the dune in the Sahara Desert and then have your breakfast. After these beautiful moments, we will depart towards Tineghir passing by Erfoud and Tinejdad. Later, we will have a break for lunch, before we continue to Todra gorges via Tineghir. Arrive at Todra Gorges where you will enjoy its marvelous Canyon views while hiking on foot. Later on, we drive to Boumalne du Dades and stop for a panoramic view of Dades Valley. Arrive at the accommodation and check in. Dinner and overnight in the hotel.

Day 7Dades Valley - Rose valley - Ouarzazate - Ait Ben Haddou - High Atlas Mountains - Marrakech

This beautiful tour of 2 weeks from Fez continues as this morning after breakfast, we will depart to Marrakech. The next site to visit is the Rose Valley going through the big Skoura palm grove, a beautiful place to contemplate more than 700.000 palms and numerous kasbahs that are built in the surrounding area. In this Valley damascenes, roses are raised for cosmetic use such as the valued rosewater. The next stop is in Ouarzazate, also known as “The gate of the desert” which in the Berber language means “noiseless or without confusion”. Here we´ll see the Taourirt kasbah, one of the most spectacular ksars in Morocco. Stopping for a panoramic view of the kasbah Taourirt and then another photo stop near the Atlas film studios.

After that, our journey continues to the ksar (fortified village) of Aït Ben Haddou where we will visit the famous Kasbah. Famous films have been shot on this spectacular stage, including Gladiator, Obelix, The Mummy, The Jewel of the Nile, and Sahara with Penelope Cruz…etc. Free time for lunch in town. We continue to Marrakech over the mountains of high Atlas passing through the Tizi N’tichka pass (2260 m in altitude). Arrive in Marrakech in the afternoon and check-in at your hotel/Riad.

Day 8Marrakech guided tour

After breakfast in the hotel, you will have a private guided tour of Marrakech Medina with an official local guide. You will see the famous Mosque of Koutoubia, the Medina, and its souks, and explore some more of Marrakech’s secrets such as the Ali Ben Youssef Koranic school, the Saadian tombs, the Bahia Palace, and Majorelle Gardens. During the afternoon, the best option is to explore the medina on your own, approaching the square that in the evening is full of narrators, jugglers, diviners, snake charmers and musicians. 

Day 9Day trip to Essaouira

The driver will pick you up from your accommodation in Marrakech to go on a journey to Essaouira, a coastal city, which is about 2 hours and a half drive from Marrakech. On the way to Essaouira, you will have a short break to see the famous goats, climb on Argan trees, and eat Argan seeds, visit the Argan cooperative to learn how local women make Argan oil in a traditional manner and the multi-uses of the precious oil.

Afterward, we will reach Essaouira where the driver will drop you off at the door of the medina (old city) and you will have free time to walk on your own and explore the simply beautiful places, such as ancient shops, narrow alleys, local markets, and craftsmen. Also, you will have enough time to visit the Skala and enjoy the sea view from above. After that, you can have lunch in a local restaurant and enjoy fresh seafood. In the afternoon, you will get back to Marrakech around 6 PM and the driver will drop you off at your accommodation. 

Day 10 Marrakech

Your 2 weeks tour from Fez continues as today you will have a free day to Marrakech. You can stroll around the markets, take a walk in Gueliz, the modern part of Marrakech or just visit a hammam-Spa and relax. At night you can optionally have dinner with a show in a restaurant.

Day 11Marrakech - Casablanca - Rabat

Today after your breakfast, we will drive to Casablanca via the highway. 3 hours later, we will make a stop to visit the impressive Mosque of Hassan II, built-in 1993 by a team of over 6000 craftsmen. Located on the shores of the city of Casablanca, it is an imposing edifice and one of the few mosques in Morocco that non-Muslims are allowed to enter. Afterward, we will continue to Rabat, the capital of Morocco. Check into your accommodation and later, we will explore the Imperial City of Rabat, including the Mechouar (the ramparts and walls surrounding the Royal Palace), the majestic Mohammed V Mausoleum, the Hassan Tower, the Oudaya Kasbah overlooking the Atlantic Ocean, and the Chellah in the outskirts of Rabat.

Day 12Rabat - Chefchaouen

This beautiful 2 weeks tour from Fez continues as today we will depart for the enchanting mountain village of Chefchaouen. We will pass through the green valleys of the Rif Mountains before we reach our destination. Chefchaouen is famous for its vivid blue-rinsed houses and is very popular for both tourists and Moroccans. Explore Chefchaouen, with its winding lanes and narrow alleys, which are home to numerous souks offering cuisine and artisan works, such as woolen items, intricate embroidery, and goats’ cheese, all native to the North, and not found anywhere else in Morocco. Relax in the square, visit a local farm, or hike in nearby parks.

Day 13Chefchaouen - Fez

Today after breakfast, you will have some free time to Chefchaouen to walk around in its blue picturesque cobblestone streets. Around noon, we will depart to Fez. We will have some stops on the way to admire the beautiful nature and a lunch break. Arrive at Fez in the afternoon and check in at the hotel/riad. 

Day 14Fez departure

Your 2 weeks tour from Fez ends today as the driver will pick you up from your hotel/riad to transfer you to the airport of Fez on time to reach your flight and this is the end of our services.
